Weekly Update - 11/20
Hello swim families!
What a great (and busy) weekend at the pool yesterday! Both our middle school and high school teams did an excellent job and there were many time drops, PRs, and state cuts this weekend as well.
The middle school team placed 1st at the Gobble Wobble Invitational and had a strong showing among our middle school boys. Meanwhile, the high school Silver team traveled to Marietta to compete in a challenging evening meet versus several larger 6A-7A teams. They finished in 3rd place and we saw more state cuts made in our competition as well as some personal records. Shout out to Dean Wall who qualified in the 100 Fly and 100 Back, as well as Jeff Wall who posted his first individual state cut in the 500 Freestyle as a freshman! Excellent work team!
This week's Athletes of the Week are:
- High School - Bella Hastings and Jeff Wall
- Middle School - Cydney Young and Bryson Aultman
Great job swimmers!
Although school is out we will continue our practices this week, however, there will be a different schedule and location for this week's practices:
- Monday: 11 - 12 AM (Frances Meadows Aquatic Center); 5 - 6:30 PM (YMCA)
- Tuesday: 11 - 12 AM (Frances Meadows)
- Wednesday: 11 - 12 AM (Frances Meadows)
**Please note that these start times are IN WATER times... Please be there and be ready to get in by 10:55 AM.
These are, of course, optional this week - but a good way to keep up your conditioning. If you are unable to attend, or out of town, maintain that conditioning by trying to get in a minimum of 30 minutes of cardio each day. Adding in some strength training would be great as well. Even if you don't have the tools, pushups, flutter kicks, and squats for 10 minutes a day can go a long way to making sure that the hard work you've put in will still be there when you we get back in the water for our next meet on December 3rd!
If I don't see you before then, Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
