Meet Information - Saturday, November 11th
Hello swim families!
This weekend will be our first truly “away” meet of the season. We will be traveling to Tallulah Falls School to compete in the Veterans Day Luau Meet. The meet is scheduled to begin for spectators at 10 am and should conclude around 1:30 PM.
Since this is an away meet, ALL swimmers should plan to be on the bus to travel with the team to the meet. There should be no swimmers riding with parents TO the meet or driving themselves. Just like with any other team traveling to an away game, the school requires students to travel together for safety protocol measures unless there is some other extenuating circumstance that would make it difficult or dangerous for the student to travel with the team. If you feel like your child might be an exception to this, please reach out to me at [email protected] or via text at (770) 503-6514 to discuss.
The drive is long, so we will plan on leaving no later than 7 AM to ensure that we are on time to register, put down our bags, and be ready for warmup starting at 9 AM. Please have your child to the bus no later than 6:45 am so that we can get ourselves settled, roster taken, and ready to roll out as soon as possible. It is going to be cold and a long drive, so I suggest potentially bringing a blanket, etc. to help keep the kids warm on the way. It’s a great time to catch up on some sleep before the day begins!
Don’t forget to include a refillable water bottle along with some smaller healthy snacks for the meet. Protein shakes, granola or protein bars, fruit, fruit snacks, uncrustables, and crackers make great options for easy-to-pack snacks that provide a good energy boost without overloading swimmers' tummies and making them feel sick. We will not have a team table (although I will have some snacks available for swimmers) this week since we will have a shorter meet. Swimmers should also have a couple of towels, a change of clothes for the ride home, and at least one pair of goggles. It’s always a good idea to make sure that your swimmer has an extra pair of goggles for every practice and meet. They often break (at the last minute) so it’s good practice to make sure you’ve got a backup just in case!
If you would like to check your swimmer out to return by car with you, you may do so. Please be sure that you check out with a coach before leaving.
For swimmers who are returning on the bus, we will stop at a fast food restaurant on the way home to get some late lunch. Please be sure that they have money for this (around $10)! I anticipate a return to the school around 3 pm.
I’m looking forward to seeing everyone bright and early tomorrow morning!
As always, let me know if you have any questions!
GO BEARS!
Coach Goodwin
