Hello swim families!

It’s hard to believe we’ve been practicing for a month already! It’s been so fun watching the kids learn and grow as each week passes. I hope that you are also enjoying watching as well! We are so grateful for the support that we’ve gotten, and I can tell you I think swim parents are the best parents around! This weekend, we had a great meet at Tallulah Falls and took 2nd place (just behind the bigger TF team) in the middle school and varsity divisions.

This week, the JV (8th grade) and Varsity swimmers will compete at Frances Meadows, while our 6th and 7th graders will have a competition break until our next all-team meet on Friday, December 1st. Be looking for the signups for that meet sometime in the next week!

Some important notes - we will not take a bus to the meet this weekend. Instead, all swimmers must have transportation to/from the venue themselves. Please be sure to plan accordingly for this. All swimmers must be at the venue by 8:30 AM, and the meet is expected to conclude around 3 PM.

Our practice schedule will remain the same this week, and we encourage swimmers to continue to attend practices over the following weeks, even if they are not competing. We will continue to condition, work on speedwork to get faster in the water, and review some technique skills in our practices. Each practice focuses on different skills, so the more swimmers attend, the quicker you will see gains and the better and more competitive they will become!

For your planning purposes… we will have practice the week of Thanksgiving Break. This will be optional for those swimmers who are in town and available. We will practice Monday - Wednesday from 10 - 11 AM at Frances Meadows Aquatic Center in Gainesville.

Our Varsity team will have our Annual Friendsgiving Dinner THIS Thursday evening at Coach Smith’s house. Please sign up using the Evite link below and plan to bring a side to share with the group. While this event is ONLY for High School students, we will have a whole team celebration coming up over the Christmas break and middle school activity in January, so watch for those notices soon.
