Weekly Swim Update - November 26, 2023
Hello CB Swim Families!
I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving Break with their families! The rest (and sleeping in) was much appreciated by those at our house this past week. But now it’s time to get back into it! This week, we will resume our regular practice schedule, which will continue through the beginning of Christmas Break on December 17th. (That’s only six more early wake-ups before our next break!) We will also have practices over the Break at Frances Meadows in the same 10-11 AM window for your planning purposes!
We have three meets in December, with our first this FRIDAY, December 1st. This is an AWAY meet in Habersham, and the students must leave school at 2 pm on Friday to travel via bus to the meet. All students should plan to ride the bus to the meet. Warm-ups will begin at 3 pm, and the meet will start at 5:30 PM. After the meet, the students may ride home with their parents or ride the bus back to the school. Our expected return time to the school is between 10:30 and 11 PM on Friday.
We will plan on feeding the students sub sandwiches for dinner. If someone would like to volunteer to man the food table/coordinate the food for this meet, we would be very grateful. Please get in touch with me at [email protected] OR (770) 503-6514 if you are willing to coordinate food pick up, set up, and clean up our food table for this week!
Entries are due by 10 PM on Monday, so please get those in ASAP so we can seed and get our entries sent in. We must know if you will be attending so we can make appropriate arrangements for buses, food, meals, and transportation. Please log in to Swimtopia and let me know if your swimmer will/will not be attending.
This meet is open to both middle and high school students!
The other meets in December will be split as follows:
- Saturday, December 9th AM - Middle School only at Frances Meadows
- Saturday, December 9th PM - High School only at Chamblee High School
- Saturday, December 16th - High School only Cherokee County Aquatic Center, Canton, GA
Also, please take the time to check your student's grades in the next couple of days. Coach Smith and I firmly believe that as STUDENT athletes, the student part comes first! This means we expect our students to be leaders in and out of the pool. Furthermore, your swimmer MUST remain academically eligible to continue to participate in meets and practices. I would hate to have a season of hard work to this point come to an end due to missing work.
We will offer NHS peer tutoring along with swim practices up to Christmas Break.
Options for tutoring will include:
- Mondays from 7:00 - 7:30 PM at Frances Meadows
- Wednesdays from 5:30 - 6 PM at the YMCA

Looking forward to a great week ahead, and see you soon back at the pool!
