Weekly Swim Update 12.8.24

Hello CB Families!

We've almost made it to the holiday break! Overall, we had a great weekend as a team. Our high school team spent a VERY cold, VERY early morning volunteering at the Autism Speaks Atlanta Walk. They helped everywhere, from carrying boxes, handing out snacks, monitoring the kid's zone, passing out pom-poms, and much more! Then we headed over to Mellow Mushroom for lunch, a quick stop at Cumberland Mall to stay warm, and a cold but fun night at Six Flags! You'll be glad to hear that throughout the day, I got many compliments on how kind, polite, and well-behaved this group was for a bunch of teenagers. I was VERY proud to be their coach!

Meanwhile, back here in town, our middle school team showed up and showed OUT to finish off a strong 2024 at the Chestatee War Eagle Invitational by taking home FIRST PLACE overall! Our team has a strong foundation, and these swimmers are vital to building that. They consistently show up to practices ready to work hard and learn, which continues to show up in meet results and times drops weekly!

After school, we will have our Middle School Fun Day tomorrow (Monday, December 9). Middle Schoolers should report to Dr. Goodwin's room at bus dismissal, and we will head out around 3:45 PM to Stars and Strikes (1700 Winder Hwy, Dacula). The swimmers will have a couple of hours to hang out with their buddies, bowling and playing arcade games. Our service project - supplying diapers for the Diaper Bank for young mothers at LCCA - is in full swing. Swimmers are asked to bring a package/box of diapers sizes 1, 2, or 3 to donate. They can drop them off with either Coach Grace (6th grade hall) or Coach Goodwin (8th grade hall) in the morning.

Our last fundraiser of the year is planned for this Friday night, December 13th. Right now, very few people have signed up. We really need you to help us get the word out in our community. I'll send out something on social media again tonight, so if you could share and share and share, that would be amazing. This is always a fun time for the kids and a great team fundraiser! If our participation is not up by Wednesday, we may have to cancel, and we DEFINITELY don't want to do that!

Besides the Monday changes, our practice schedule is the same this week. The HS team will travel to Chamblee this weekend for the Lakeside Invitational to close out 2024, but the practice doesn't stop! We will start 2025 by hosting our Brave Bear Invitational, so be sure you get that on your calendars!

Thank you for allowing me to be a small part of your journey! I don't take for granted the blessing it is to be your child's coach!

GO BEARS!
