Weekly Update 1.19.25

Hello CB Swim Families!

It was a GREAT weekend for our Cherokee Bluff Bears at the pool! We are very proud of the extraordinary effort that our swimmers put in this weekend in a hard-fought meet. Did you know that out of the 38 meet events, at least one CB swimmer stood on the podium?!? That's amazing! And out of the eight where we didn't reach the podium, five of those, a CB swimmer took the 4th place position, most of the time by a matter of hundredths of a second. I've included the results attached to this document for you to take a look at if you'd like.

It's no coincidence! This is due to the hard work of these swimmers throughout the season, and your coaches could not be prouder!

A. Middle School:

Our competitive season for our middle schoolers has officially ended; don't block these emails just yet! We will send information soon about our end-of-the-season celebration, so watch for that Save the Date. We also want to ensure we get a picture of our swimmers in their gear next week to rep the newest Hall County Middle School Champions! I'll send more information later this week, but we will tentatively get this picture on Wednesday morning in the gym before school, and students should wear their white team sweatshirts for the picture!

B. High School:

Our high school team has a couple of weeks left and another meet next Friday to make up for the one missed on January 11th. This will be at Frances Meadows. Students will leave school via bus at 1:15 PM, with the meet beginning at 3:30 PM. After the meet, there will be a bus back to the school for students who need it. All students planning to attend this meet should sign up by 11 PM on Sunday, January 19th (today!).

Swimmers may choose their events for this meet! This is an opportunity for you to swim your favorite event (high schoolers still can't swim 50s except the free... sorry...), try to make that state swim cut, OR ensure that you have the yardage to letter. If you are not sure about this, remember that you need to have attended and competed in a minimum of 7 meets, participated at the correct number of weekly practices, maintained your GPA at a minimum of 2.75, and either swam a total of 1500 yards or more OR scored a minimum of 50 points for the team OR scored a state cut time. If you have questions about your swimmer's progress, let me know, and I'm happy to update you!

We will have practice on Monday and Wednesday this week. Here's the schedule:

In addition, save the date: On January 29th, high school swimmers will have team pictures after school at 4:30 p.m. I will send more information next week!

C. An FYI for ALL:

This Wednesday, there will be a meeting at the Spouts Springs Library from 5:30 - 7:30 PM hosted by the Hall County Parks Department. The focus of the meeting is to gauge interest and get feedback regarding a new planned park and activity center here in South Hall County. I would encourage you to attend this meeting and see what the Park and Rec department has planned for our area. If you feel (like me) that a competitive POOL in this area is a great idea, this would be a GREAT time to make that known in a public forum! I understand that this is at the same time as our practice on Wednesday evening, so if you would like to attend the meeting and need a ride for your swimmer to/from practice - please reach out and let me know. I have a bus that I can use to transport students to/from this practice on Wednesday night so that parents can attend (I can even potentially swing by and pick up Lanier swimmers at 7:30 if needed)

Thank you to everyone for an incredible season! We have something special here at CB, and I'm grateful to have been a small part of your swimmer's journey.

GO BEARS!!!
