CB Swim Update - 9.30.25
Hello CB Swim Families!
Today, we wrapped up our conditioning season, and I am incredibly proud of the growth we've seen from those who were able to attend. We challenged your students to grow and stretch in new and different ways (literally!), and they have embraced those challenges. On Tuesday, September 2nd, they ran a mile for time, then completed as many push-ups, sit-ups, and chin-ups as they could. Now, a month later, we've retested these, and they are stronger, fitter, and much more confident about their fitness! I'm excited to see what the next few months hold in store for me and the team!
Meanwhile, those swimmers who are already involved in Fall Sports are killing it! Swimmers who are with the Marching Bears received all superiors that their competition this past weekend, our softball bears have hot bats, our volleyball bears won the Hall County Championships, our Cheer Bears placed first in this weekend's past competition, and our football bears are currently 4-2 and getting into region play! WOW! What a talented group we have!
Speaking of getting in the water, it's about that time! We will begin IN WATER practices next week!
On Monday, we will ask all new swimmers to the swim program at CB to attend our evaluation practice. This evaluation will help us, as coaches, determine the best way to support your swimmers. Swimmers hoping to change their practice group are also welcome to attend evaluations for consideration.
This will begin at 5 pm at the J.A. Walters/Georgia Mountains YMCA. Please have your swimmer wear a one-piece practice suit and goggles. If they would like to wear a swim cap as well, they are welcome to bring one, or we can provide them with one if they'd like. If you are still looking for goggles, I highly suggest either Speedo, TYR, or Arena brands. Goggle style and brand can be specific. If the fit is correct, one-piece goggles are often preferred, especially with younger swimmers, as the adjustable nose piece can sometimes prove problematic. In general, we highly suggest that all swimmers have a minimum of two pairs of goggles with them at all times, in case one breaks.
ONLY swimmers who are new to the program or want to move up to a different swim group need to attend the evaluations. They should take between 45 minutes and 1 hour.
ALL swimmers should plan to attend practices the remainder of the week:
Tuesday: 6 - 7 AM & Thursday: 6 - 7 AM
Wednesday: (HS) 5 - 6:30 PM; (MS) 6:30 - 7:30 PM
**We will have transportation available for swimmers to our morning practices. Swimmers should meet the bus in the CBHS student parking lot between 5:20 and 5:30 a.m. The bus will pull out of the CB parking lot NO LATER THAN 5:35 AM. Students will be able to shower and change at the YMCA, and the bus will return them to school for the start of the school day. MS students may store their bags in the rooms of Coach Grace or Coach Goodwin until the end of the day.
Be sure to head out to the Homecoming Parade tomorrow and keep an eye out for our HS swim team's "Jungle Cruise" float!
Thanks!
Coach Goodwin
