Weekly Swim Update - 10.14.25
Hello CB Swim Families!
Happy TUESDAY evening! I hope that everyone has had a good, restful Fall Break. While the students still have one more full day off from school, practice resumes tomorrow, so I wanted to be sure to send an updated schedule for the week.
Please see below for the schedule for the upcoming week:
Both swimmers and parents should have received an email regarding their assigned practice group. If you are still unsure about your swimmer's group, please get in touch with Coach Goodwin via email, and I will be sure to let you know!
A couple of notes about some upcoming events:
1. Swim Meet:
We are HOSTING the first swim meet of the season on Saturday, October 25th. This is always a great time, with many schools loving to attend our meets. That's because of our amazing parent volunteers!
Signups for athletes are now open. ALL swimmers should go in and declare attending/not attending. We have to have an answer for EVERYONE! I know there are still several Fall Sports going on, so if they must miss, we understand. Please click "not attending" and then let me know in the comment box for the sport/activity.
Also, please note that there is no option for you to select strokes. This may be new for those who are new to the team. If you have a particular stroke that they might like to swim, please note that in the comments box; however, please realize that "team" swim is very different than individual or club swim activities that you may have experienced in the past. We aim to support your swimmers in achieving their overall goals while balancing the team's needs in specific areas to maximize our team score. If your swimmer has questions, please encourage them to talk to their coaches about their preferred stroke and goals for the season!
DEADLINE for entries for this meet is Saturday, October 18th at 9 PM.
We will also need a LOT of volunteers for our meet. When signing up, you will also be prompted to select a "job." We kindly ask that one member of each family commit to helping out in some way during our first meet to ensure that it runs smoothly and all areas are covered.
2. Gear:
All of our gear has finally arrived, thanks to John and Taren Rowland, who spent their break gathering items and getting them sorted. That's no small feat for the 63 swimmers and four coaches on this team! Also, a big thank you to Aldi's for donating paper bags to help with the sorting! We anticipate getting gear out to all swimmers by the end of this week/beginning of next week. Please look for an update later this week on when to expect and how to pick up.
All swimmers will receive: A CB branded swim cap, an Arena competition swim suit, a pair of black Nike Joggers with screenprinted CB Swim branded logo, a black Champion Waterproof Stadium fleece jacket with embroidered CB Swim logo, a natural/ash CB Swim t-shirt, and swimmers new to the team will also receive a black TYR mesh Mummy bag for their gear! That's a lot of swag!!
(Big thanks to our vendors Reddiset and Baker Sports for going above and beyond to get us quality gear quickly!)
ALL Swimmers are expected to wear their team joggers and jackets to ALL swim functions and events that we are attending as a team. The only exception to the team jacket would be for those students who would prefer to wear their CB Letter Jackets instead. We are a team, and we will look like one.
Competition suits should be worn for competition meets only. Please plan to have a different suit or suits for practices to maintain the integrity of your comp suit.
3. High School Service and Fun Day:
Our HS Service and Fun Day has been RESCHEDULED for SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 16TH. Students will meet at CBHS for a team breakfast and to pack Operation Christmas Child boxes. We will then depart for an afternoon/evening of fun at Six Flags!
High School Parents - look for an additional email with details, sign-up information, and deadlines!
Well... I THOUGHT it would be a shorter email this week, but with everything still getting started, it turns out there are a lot of details to share!
We can't wait to see everyone soon!
GO BEARS!
Coach Goodwin
