Weekly Update 1.18.26
Hello CB Swim Families!
What a season! I can't believe that this is the last of the weekly regular-season updates. It feels like we were just meeting in August to get signed up. I'm so incredibly proud of the huge improvements we've made this season, and I hope you and our swimmers are as well!
As a recap, in addition to the trophies for the Boys Varsity Overall, Girls Middle School Overall, and Middle School Overall, we also:
- Went to the podium a total of 36 times - 9 times of which were a first-place finish!
- Had an additional 68 top ten finishes
- Set one new school record (fourth new record this week)
- Set one new Hall County record!
Just... WOW!
So now what??
Well, our state swimmers will continue to practice as we prepare for the state meet on February 4th and 5th at Georgia Tech. Those swimmers who have qualified will receive additional emails about practices, fees, and arrangements.
We will also have two additional dates for team pictures.
High School swimmers will have team yearbook pictures with Cady after school on Wednesday, January 21st, from 4 - 4:30 PM. Swimmers are welcome to stay after school and plan to be picked up at 4:30 PM at the big gym. Please wear your swim t-shirt and either black shorts/pants or leggings. We will also take a Boys Team picture with our trophy in front of the trophy case at 3:45 PM.
Middle school team pictures will ALSO take place on Wednesday, January 21st at 8:15 AM. Please plan to meet in the gym at 8:15. As with the HS team, please wear your team t-shirt, black pants/shorts or leggings.
Finally, prepping for the 26-27 season starts now...
If you want to continue developing your swimmer in the water, club swim is a great way to do so. Gwinnett Swim is a great option nearby, especially for swimmers new to competitive swimming. The programs here go from beginning to advanced, so there is practice available for all levels. For more advanced swimmers, I also highly recommend the Lanier Aquatics program out of Frances Meadows.
Out-of-water training is JUST as important for building twitch, power, agility, conditioning, etc. Thankfully, we've got a great connection with one of our swim parents who also happens to be an awesome trainer! I've attached a flyer here for a special off-season training program that he's developing for our swimmers. We've seen some incredible improvement from our swimmers who have participated in his program, with some awesome time drops (my son went from a 59 to a 54 in his 100 free after three weeks of training at the HS!).
Before we sign off for the season, as coaches, we want to take a quick minute to express our profound gratitude to our boosters who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that this season went so well. From long booster meetings beginning last April to paperwork filings, endless texts, and arrangements for everything from reservations to tickets to concessions, there has been no challenge I've thrown at them that they haven't met, and then some.
In addition, thank you to the parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and all the others for all you've done to support your team and swimmer. I will say that there is NO ONE around that has as much parent support as we do. You love your swimmer, and this program, and it makes all the difference!
Thank you!
Coach Goodwin and CB Swim Coaching Staff!
