CB Swim Update - 9.13.26

Hello CB Swim Families!

Our first week of conditioning has concluded, and I'm so proud of the response that we've had. The students who were able to participate were there and ready to work. I especially appreciate their flexibility as we're adapting to a newer (and MUCH smaller) space this season.

Here's a look at the week ahead:

A. Dryland:

We will have conditioning practices at the middle school on Monday and Tuesday this week. This will begin directly after school, and students should be picked up at 5:15 pm at the middle school. Please be sure that your swimmer has a water bottle and appropriate workout clothing and shoes!

B. Mandatory High School Meeting  - Wednesday, September 16th @ 4 PM

On Wednesday, there will be a MANDATORY high school swim meeting in Coach Goodwin's room beginning at 4 PM. Please make your way there as soon as possible so we can make the most of our time.

Athletes, club members, and band members should discuss this with their respective coaches/sponsors and plan to attend. If you need me to communicate this information with them, please let me know. Band members - you have already been cleared to attend by Mr. Cantrell!

If you are unable to do so, you should reach out to Coach Goodwin ASAP to make plans to get the information we will cover.

C. Homecoming Parade

On Wednesday, students who would like to participate in the homecoming float will be invited to stay in Coach Goodwin's room after our meeting. We will provide pizza and drinks and hang out until the parade begins at 6:30 PM. Students will work on decorating our float. The theme is "Enchanted Reef," and we encourage all participating swimmers to dress up as a mermaid or a pirate!

Swimmers should bring at least one bag of SOFT candy. Suckers, hard candy, etc. are NOT allowed this year in the Homecoming Parade!

All swimmers who are participating in the parade MUST have a signed permission slip. Please see the link below to sign!

Homecoming Parade Permission Slip.

This is for HIGH SCHOOL swimmers only. Middle school swimmers should plan to go home as normal on Wednesday afternoon.

D. Fundraising

Our fundraising efforts are off and running! We've got 17 more days to reach our $5,000 goal! Don't forget to ask about company matching! Remember that 50% of what you raise will be applied directly to your dues. Those who may have already paid are eligible for a refund based on what you raise, so ask those around you to Dive in and Donate!

E. Concessions

Thank you SO much to those who have already volunteered at our concession stands and donated goods. You guys have already done amazing work, and I'm so grateful for all the hard work you've put in to make this team great. This fundraiser helps keep our dues among the lowest at CBHS, and it only happens because of you!

Be sure to keep checking GroupMe for opportunities to help. We've got eight more concession stands this season!

F. Season Practice Schedule:

For your planning purposes, I have included the practice schedule for this season here. In general, the "Bluff" team will consist of middle school and JV-level swimmers, while our "Bears" team will be our high school swimmers with competition experience, who are expected to compete and contribute at the Varsity, District, and State level.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Although we have sometimes moved swimmers around, the large number of high school swimmers this year may make it more difficult for us to move up middle school swimmers. However, please note that if this is true, Bluff practices will be appropriately leveled to ensure all swimmers have an opportunity to grow.

Thank you for being the best team to coach!

GO BEARS!
